What is an alternator anyway?

What are the tasks of an alternator?

What happens with a defective alternator?

If premature wear of the alternator occurs and it is actually defective, you will notice this at the latest when your battery is dead. Because a broken alternator has the consequence that no energy can be generated and converted. As a result, the device falls away, which recharges its battery with the necessary energy. Depending on use or consumption, the battery can be drained quickly, especially when radio, air conditioning or at night sometimes the headlights are used. After 30-60km most batteries give up. Although you can replace the battery, but no new energy is supplied by the alternator, this will not help you. So with a broken alternator, they do not come around to changing the generator.

Unfortunately, this can be painful for your wallet, because a battery replacement is much cheaper than a new alternator. That's why many take on used models. Here, however, you take the risk that you never know exactly

how many kilometers the alternator actually ran. In addition, there is no guarantee for the used alternator, if it gives up after a few kilometers the mind. This does not happen to you with a brand new alternator. The advantages of a brand new alternator are therefore obvious. Not only do you know exactly where the alternator comes from, but you also get a guarantee for your lifetime performance and lifetime. Sometimes it pays to spend a few more Euros.
